This past weekend I took a class in Electroforming at The Ranch. Electroforming is the process of growing metal on formed and organic materials, the possibilities are staggering and lots of fun too.
I came home with a fun piece and a couple of not so good ones and several pieces that need to be finished, we also came home with our own little home Electroforming set up.
Here is my piece fashioned after an Urn, before electroforming (taken with my phone). It consists of a Vintage Lucite bead wrapped with Copper wire and Sheet. Really fun to put it all together.
Here is the piece after electroforming and patina. Not too bad for my first effort, I look forward to doing more with it and finding ways to incorporate it in to my work with Metal Clay.
