First Components - Where I Started

In conjunction with the Art Jewelry Elements Blog
I'm sharing some of the first Components I started making to sell well over a year ago.

The above Bronze pieces I actually really love and should make more of.

I had been making components for myself to make jewelry for a few years before that which wasn't going all that well. I struggled for months with the idea of making components to sell and it's been the best decision I could have made. I honestly think I would have had to give up the whole thing if I had continued on the way I was going.

This is the very first post I made announcing I was going to be having components available to sell.
At that time I was doing mostly bronze.

Shortly after I sent components to a few of my online friends for them to create with and they made some beautiful creations!

As many of you know Copper is my metal of choice these days. I'd love to find the time to make more bronze but copper keeps me pretty busy and I do love it!!!

Lately I've been trying to combine more than one texture and I like the results.

A fun little walk down memory lane,
thanks for stopping by!

Kristi

  4. I love those first charms... and I remember making those pretty earrings as well! I loved them! You have come a long way in a short time, Miss Kristi. And such a pretty journey it has been! In fact, I was taking my Etsy Taste Test again today and guess what was in my items to choose? Your gorgeous star headpins (so sad I didn't see those last week!). I picked them of course. Maybe Etsy is in fact learning my tastes ;-)Thanks for sharing your journey with us. Enjoy the day. Erin

  6. You've come a ways, but I still love your first components! I love both metals, but the colors you're getting on your copper are scrumptious.

  7. Wow! That is a walk down memory lane! It has been so much fun watching your components (and confidence!) progress, my friend! I "ooohhh" and "aaaawww" at each new one. Am doing a happy dance that the components have sold so well for you - KNEW they would! And I'm so happy to have been able to work with a pair of your fine silver pieces, back in the day (:

  8. Thank you so much for touching on your decision to do production of components, as opposed to just selling jewellery. I read your linked posts and it is heartening to learn of your process, Kristi. This hop has been a fascinating journey for me!
