I Heart Macro

A sure sign in our home that summer is gone and fall is in full swing,

the Christmas Cactus is just about to bloom.

 This vivid pink is one of my favorites!

We have a white one but the buds are still too small to really photogragh.

 Next week I bet I'll get some photos of the white one.

This shot is almost identical to the next, but the focus is on the bud in the front.

The focus on the buds in the back this time,

hard to choose a favorite but I lean towards this one for some reason.

Perfection!

Earrings Everyday

Some of you may know that the lovely Heather Powers

 put out a call to contribute to her new blog

 Earrings Everyday.

 I was really nervous to enter but I did it, it's quite far out of my comfort zone.

 The earring part I'm ok with, being responsible for writing on another blog,

 not just my own where I can ramble and be goofy all I want, is pretty scary.

 But I wanted to step out and do something different and challenging

 and I was lucky enough to be chosen,

 along with my crazy and super creative friend Keirsten Giles.

Earring Palooza!!

I'm so busy creating components I don't often take enough time out to create jewelry.

 I love using other artists glass and ceramic creations combined with my own,

 I also love combing the work of other artists without including my own.

 There's so much amazing stuff out there!!

It's officially Fall and we really have some new moss growth, it never goes away really,

 especially in the cool and wet summer we just came out of but I can see it's growing more now.

 I love it!

Lucky to still have some Roses doing their best to bloom!!

 it's super easy to get and you can attach any URL to it that you want.
 I didn't realize how easy until I made one of my own.
You scan it with an app on your smart phone

I Heart Macro Copper and Ammonite

Check out the amazing color in these copper pieces.

All done with a torch.

I broke out my 36mm extension tube for these photos.

These next couple of pictures are 2 new pyritized ammonite fossils

 I just added to my collection.

They are bigger than any of the ones I had before

 so I can create some larger pieces using this amazing texture!

Last, I had to take a super macro shot of my new makers mark.

This is unfired copper,

you know I'll be showing you a macro of some fired pieces soon.

One thing I learned about having a makers mark,

doesn't do much good if you keep forgetting to use it!!!

BTW Makers Mark

Yesterday I received my very first Maker's Mark Stamp from Metalclays.com.

 I'm so excited I had to make something this morning just so I could use it.

 I actually woke up with an idea so I made several things,

 I hope they turn out as I envisioned when fired.

They haven't been cleaned at all, just shaped cut and dried,

 lots of filing to do before they get put in the kiln.

I want to thank Lori Plyler of StudioWaterstone for helping me fine tune my design,

I think it's so cute!!!

She's also making some new banners for me,

 hope to have those up and running in the next few weeks.

Oh! Sullivan Studio

Today I'm going to share some of the wonderful porcelain and ceramic components I found at the NW Bead Society Bazaar this past weekend. Beautiful work by Vicki Sullivan of Oh! Sullivan Studio.

 They have a website but it doesn't have any of the ceramic work on it yet.

 They will be in Portland Oregon at Montgomery Park on November 5th and 6th!

Vicki's work has a rustic quality that suites my style so well

 but there's also lots of color!!

I already made a pair of earrings from her lovely Heart pair

that are listed in my Artfire Studio.
