WBW - Snowy Owl

Welcome to 2013!!!!
It was a big year for me, I've seen and been able to photogragh so many new birds!
Many right at my back yard feeders!

I've also been lucky enough to do some traveling and see more new birds that way.
These gorgeous Snowy Owls are not in my back yard but I don't have to travel very far to see them.
These 2 and probably a couple more are about a 30 minute drive for me in the
Ballard neighborhood of Seattle.

I went back this morning to see them and this one on the rooftop was there again.
(that is assuming it's the same one but I think this is it's preferred hangout)

Unfortunately when I took my camera out I realized I hadn't put the memory card back in so couldn't take new pictures.

  7. Oh, a women after my heart. So nice to meet someone else who has gone to take pictures with an empty CF. And here I thought it was just me:) I will say that you are blessed to have these beautiful owls within reach ... We had Snowy Owls in the Chicago area along Lake Michigan last year, but I was never able to spot one. It is rare that they come this way. Thank you for the great shots ...

  9. Hard to believe that that is a yard bird! What a stunner. Shame about the memory card. Reminds me of a time long ago when my one and only roll of film stuck at frame two as I was watching one of the best sunsets I have ever seen! Oh well!

Cheers and thanks for linking to WBW.

  10. What a treat! Have you read "Wesley the Owl" by Stacey O'Brien? I think you might enjoy it since you like birds. We read it for book club a few months ago and it's a very interesting read. The author cares for a barn owl from the time that it's very little until he passes.

  15. Oh Kristi! They are so gorgeous! Your photos are so beautiful!

Where in Ballard do the owls hang out? I'm just up in Queen Anne and would happily make a field trip to try and catch a glimpse of them! Happy New Year! - Karen
