My Prize from Starry Road Studio

Yesterday was a fantastic mail day,  not only did I get my amazing Monster Ammonite, I also recieved the spoils from being the lucky winner of the ABS June Monthly Challenge and I won a gift certificiate from Starry Road Studio. ABS May Challenge

This months Art Bead Scene Challenge inspiration is a beautiful piece by Berthe Morisot. This wonderful piece is an Oil on Canvas, 18 1/4" x 21 3/4" called Cache-cache (Hide-and-Seek). It's lovely soft feminine beauty is a wonderful inspiration.

I chose to pull out the little red flowers in the tree as my focal and include the soft muted greens of the grass and surrounding area and add little bits of subtle color all around.



A wonderful Red Flower by Mary Harding Jewelry
 is the focal with a bail of silk ribbon in shades of green.




A couple of gorgeous Lampwork beads by Karen at LibelulaDesigns.

And wonderful faceted Agate in that lovely pale green,
 with glass beads in greens and reds and a handmade Copper Clasp to pull it all together.
 I just had to add a couple of little silk ribbon accents as well.

Art Bead Scene April Challenge

This months Art Bead Scene Challenge has a beautiful, soft and natural piece as our inspiration. I think it has inspired some absolutely stunning and original pieces.

When I saw this beautiful piece I knew I wanted to create a necklace dripping with Bronze or Copper leaves with rich beads in earthy neutrals with splashes of that orange/red and soft green. I created a batch of Bronze Leaves out of Precious Metal Clay, collected all the beads together I thought might work in the piece and set out to make my piece. It seemed to come together quite naturally, I strung the leaves with lots of layers patinated Copper wire wrapped to create substantial bails for each leaf. Added amazing Lampwork beads between each one from BluHealer a couple of beautiful Glass Head Pins from Raida of HavanaBeads, threw in some bright orange Faceted Carnelian Nuggets, some Speckled Agate, Copper Chain and a handmade Copper Clasp and this is the result.

Art Bead Scene November Challenge

This months inspiration for the November Challenge is a really wonderful piece of art called Tree of Life, Stoclet Frieze, 1909, Gustav Klimt 1862-1918.

I had a very good idea what I wanted to do right away. I had already been playing with some beads that fit in to the color scheme so I had a good start. I looked through my existing PMC pieces to see if I had something that would work. There are loads of wonderful pieces out there made by other artisans that would have worked but I really wanted to use my own work this time.
