AJE Earring Challenge Reveal 22 Weeks 45-46/52

It's the Art Jewelry Elements Earring Challenge reveal again!!

Only a few more left before the end of the year.

I've been busy, I know I won't catch up I don't even know how close I am to making a total of 52 pair this year but I think I'm close.

Fuschia Fantasy

These start out with gorgeous Headpins from SueBeads, stacked with Freshwater Pearls and a Czech Glass bead on top. Wrapped a little brightly colored Sari Silk roughly with copper to finish them off.

Tribal X

Some Copper drops and Bone Beads all with X's on them topped with a little Turquoise Square.

Mystic Wand

Copper Feathers snugged up to wonderful Ceramic/Porcelain tubes from O'Sullivan and heavily wrapped with Copper Wire. A bright Turquoise Square on top!

Fuscia Disc

Another set of amazing Lampwork Headpins from SueBeads dangling from one of my brightly colored Polymer Clay discs again roughly wrapped in Sari Silk and Copper Wire.

Stalactite

Incredible Headpins from Lori Lochner. They are such statement pieces on their own I wanted to do something fairly simple to enhance. I've been using Sari Silk in so many of my designs lately and it worked out perfectly for these Stalactite Earrings!

Lollipop

Lollipop earrings using Glass Headpins from Numinosity, I made a ring on top and wrapped it with Sari Silk and lots of Copper wire.

Textile Beads

I've had a thing for wood texture blocks for quite some time. I dug out my collection and went to town with Polymer Clay and made these beads. I think they are so pretty and hope you do too!

Bead Table Wednesday

It's BTW time, still trying to get back in to the swing of things since vacation. Playing with Beads is always a good start!!

How about some gorgeous Teal Agate, soft green recycled glass rounds, bright Blue flat glass beads, some bone beads in tan and handmade Copper clasp and maybe a bronze charm. I like it!

It's going to have to wait until I get home from work tonight, but I'll be thinking about it today.

Busy day off tomorrow!!

Well after considerable hemmin and hawin, I have settled on opening a new Artfire shop for my beaded creations. I actually opened Big Cartel and listed some items but it just didn't feel right to me. So....I opened a new Artfire shop. I had an existing one but I wanted to use a different name so since the old one been sitting empty and idle for ages I just decided a new one was in order.

I was hoping to have the next 2 days off but work just couldn't swing having me gone on Friday so I'm off tomorrow, work Friday then the weekend. I'm going to be feverishly working to stock my shop, I am also planning on finishing off my package of Fastfire Bronze clay and firing it, I really need more PMC in my Etsy shop. Once I take out all the beaded items it will be pretty bare.

I'm also thinking I need to have a sale in my Etsy shop, I need to clear some of the stuff that's been in there for ages and hopefully people will happily that will make it easier for Christmas giving and I can afford to buy more PMC to make new schtuff!!

I'll post the link to my new Artfire shop tomorrow, once I've loaded it up with pretty things.

Ohhhhh and I bet you're thinking...what are those pretty pictures I put in my blog, well I know I like pictures and this post is more wordy than I usually get so I thought I'd share a couple of the brand new pieces. Check out those gorgeous Lampwork Beads by Kelley's Beads. It's funny, I bought those cute little colorful briolettes a few weeks ago in purples, blues and pinks and I wondered why, I didn't think I'd ever use them and then POOF, I had these wonderful colorful beads that were a perfect combination.

Thrift Store Treasures

I've really been a fan of Thrift Store shopping for the last few years and lately I've been checking out the Jewelry section more than ever and finding some great stuff.

I buy the items with the intention of taking them apart to re-use particular bits and pieces, I must admit some of the pieces are so cool I'll have a tough time not leaving them as they are. I wish I could use some of the beads off of them without ruining them, guess I have choices to make.



Love this one, look at that carved tube in the center, maybe Bone, lots of other different shaped bone beads and what looks like Red Sponge Coral and lots of other goodies. That little Crochet piece at the top with the heart is so cute. I know I'll never wear it but this is one I'll have some trouble taking apart, but I'd sure love to use all those componants again!!!!





Bone? Tone of little bone beads in different shapes and sizes and these focals are awesome. I assume they are bone but could they be ivory, does anybody know how to tell the difference. All these parts are definitely going to be re-used, I like the necklace as is but not enough to keep it together.









Here's another mystery stone front and back. I think the back may make it easier to figure out what it is? Anybody have a guess? Rhodocrosite or something like that maybe? The carving is so pretty and on such a pretty stone, only hanging on a cord so you'll definitely see this one again!







This is a piece I had a difficult time deciding to buy. I couldn't tell what those swirly beads were, since I bought it I've been told they are lucite and I think that's right. I'll absolutely take this one apart, the pendant isn't my favorite!





I bought one similar to this before at another thrift store and gave it as a gift. I'm told the tubes are bamboo burnt on the ends, really cool.

And even closer. I can't really use the components on this one so it will probably go home with a friend one day.

Beautiful Things

Life is good!!!!!!!! I just received my most recent order of beauties from Happy Mango Beads I LOVE EVERYTHING!!!


I got some gorgeous Large Bone Beads, I've gotten the brown ones before and made necklace I call Kenya, these are natural color and just as incredible. I've already have a design in mind (more than one actually) and this time the large bead will be dangling as a pendant and I've already played with stringing smaller bone beads, turquoise, lampwork, naga shell with an inlay of turquoise, red coral, PMC textured bead caps and some other smaller beads to fill in. I can't wait to put it all together. This is going to be neutral but a very bright neutral!

Here are a few pictures of my new stash, I thought about showing you my sketch but I think I'll leave it to the imagination for now.

Here is a group shot of the beauties!!! The Large Bone beads are gorgeous, there's some silver rings, faceted Mookait (YUM) medium Brown Bone Beads, Short Brown Bone Tube beads, Turquoise Heishi (which I use constantly).

Stuck in Neutral

Being stuck in neutral is not a bad thing, I am quite happy with my last few pieces but...I'm going to make a really colorful piece next time. Really I am!!

This necklace is based around a flower made of BronzClay, I made it some time ago and it's gone through a few different lives but I think I finally found the final configuration.

It's got a long list of ingredients starting with little splashes of Turquoise, then beautiful big Ryolite ovals, Polymer Clay beads (the first time I've used them in my work) and an assortment of Glass, Bone, Horn, Indian Orange Aventurine and gold and purple freshwater pearls.
